Corporate Ethics Audit™ (CEA)
Based on the Organizational Culture Inventory, the CEA measures the norms,
values and standards that drive the day-to-day behaviors and decisions of
organizational members. The inventory enables managers to understand the true
ethical culture of their organization, compare it to the values portrayed in
formal codes of conduct and ethics statements, and take steps to make the
former more consistent with the latter.
Audience: Appropriate for any organization and for members at all levels of
organizations committed to ethical conduct
Most Frequently Used for:
-
Generating information needed to compare the culture of an organization to its
code of ethics
-
Identifying the cultural norms that may be pressuring members to engage in
questionable practices or to tolerate decisions they view as wrong or unfair
-
Guiding ethics programs designed to encourage and reinforce members to maintain
their integrity and represent the organization in a principled manner
Time Required: 10-15 minutes to complete the survey
Format: Paper Computer-Scored; Online
Feedback Provided: Results are provided on the strength of 12 cultural norms
associated with Constructive, Passive/Defensive, and Aggressive/Defensive
operating cultures.
Presentation of Results: Results at the organizational and sub-unit levels are
presented on the circumplex, based on
interim norms.
Associated Outcomes: Preliminary research indicates that the CEA styles are
related to members’ reports of the ethical standards maintained by their
organizations but not to the presence of formal codes of conduct. The styles
also are related to members’ satisfaction with the organization and experienced
role conflict.
